Grammar and Blogging August 3, 2010

One of my favorite bloggers is Michael McNamara. For some reason he seems to get harassed for his use of poor grammar. Who cares? The concept of blogging is about real time posts with real time information. Should he hire an editor? Why would you nickel and dime his grammar if the information he posts is pertinent and reliable.

I suffered through the rigors of a master’s degree program. I understand why academia holds us to such important standards during the educational process. Mich Kabay from Norwich University will tell you that fraudulent term papers are a breach of authenticity at the highest level. A practice that threatens the legitimacy of all degrees at any level. I agree with Mich, but academia and blogging are two different beasts.

For example, after graduating from my masters program, I applied for a position as an editor of my university’s journal in my area of expertise. I did not last long. I thought that the quality of the content was more important than replacing a comma with a semi colon in the absence of a conjunction.

Keep up the great work Michael!

LifeLock Settles with FTC… I joined LifeLock just to figure out the scam. When I figured it out and blogged about it last Sept. I was asked to remove my post, which I did immediately.

If you want to become at expert at anything… pick 10 things and do them 4000 times. Do not pick 4000 things and only do them 10 times. September 28, 2009
